About Me
I am a "Swiss army knife" education leader who gets results across functional areas. Unlike many consultants, I work to build your internal capacity every step of the way so that you aren't locked into pricey ongoing work. I empower your team by honing your own strategic, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.
Together, we can build a stronger foundation for your organization's success, one challenge at a time.
My Background
I have covered almost every role in a charter network - from first grade teacher to CEO. My expertise spans startup, expansion, and turnaround.
As co-founder and Chief of Staff of ReGeneration Schools, I led all non-instructional work, built the central office, and stewarded organizational strategy. During my tenure, ReGen became Illinois' top charter network in reading, ranking in the top 4% nationally (2023, Stanford CREDO).
I also stewarded ReGeneration's growth. I wrote applications and gained acceptance to Charter School Growth Fund and Charter Network Accelerator. My writing raised $8.3 million in foundation, state, and federal grants to facilitate ReGeneration's expansion to Cincinnati, and I successfully authored the charter application for ReGeneration's first Cincinnati turnaround school.
My charter management experience began in Chicago, where I supported the turnaround of three struggling Chicago International Charter Schools (CICS): CICS Avalon, CICS Basil, and CICS Washington Park. Within three years, these schools raised student achievement from the bottom 17% of Illinois to the top 39%. By 2019, all three schools ranked in the U.S. News top 10 charter elementary schools in Illinois.
I developed my passion for urban education helping to found Uncommon Schools' Rochester Prep. I have taught with Citizen Schools in Boston, MA, and developed math assessments for Achievement Network. I hold a B.A. from Williams College, an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from the Broad Center.
My Values
These values guide my work, and I find the best partnerships happen when we're aligned on:
Put student outcomes first.
Treat people with respect and care.
Insist on excellence.
Give and receive feedback, and continually seek to learn.
Act with integrity.
In line with these values, if, at any point in our engagement, you're not getting exactly what you need from me, please let me know! And if I'm hitting it out of the park, that feedback is helpful, too, so I can keep doing the things that work.
